Jennifer Frautschi

Jennifer Frautschi

Violinist

Jennifer Frautschi, whose Matinee Musicale recital is scheduled for Thursday, April 30th, 11:00 am at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 317 East 5th Street, is rapidly gaining acclaim as an adventurous performer, with a wide-ranging repertoire, who is equally at home in the classic repertoire as well as twentieth and twenty-first century works.

Born in Pasadena, California, she began violin studies at age three. She was a student of Robert Lipsett at the Colburn School for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles. She also attended Harvard, the New England Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School, where she studied with Robert Mann. She performs on a 1722 Antonio Stradivarius violin known as the “ex-Cadiz”, on generous loan to her from a private American foundation.

Selected by Carnegie Hall for its Distinctive Debuts series, she made her New York recital debut in 2004, and that same year, she also made debut appearances at a dozen of Europe’s most celebrated concert venues. Since then, she has created a sensation with appearances as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Ravinia Festival, the Seattle Symphony, and at Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival.

More recently, she has had concert and recital appearances in 10 well-known American performance venues, in addition to chamber music festivals in Cyprus and the Czech Republic. In 2008-09, she will tour the US with the Czech Symphony Orchestra, and will solo at the Caramoor International Music Festival, where she has performed annually since Andre Previn first invited her there as a “Rising Star” in 1992.

Ms. Frautschi also has an extensive and widely praised discography of solos, chamber music and orchestral appearances, recorded by Naxos and Artek.
