Photos 100th Season

Our Photos 100th Season page features artists Alessio Bax, pianist; Alexander Fiterstein, clarinetist with Timothy Lovelace, collaborative pianist; Benjamin Grosvenor, concert pianist; Mac Frampton, improvisational pianist; and solo and duet pianists, Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung. On this section of our website we proudly present our 2012-2013 musicians on and off stage with our very happy audiences following the concert performances. See if you can pick out people you know as you view the photos below.

Prior to each performance in this centennial year, a Powerpoint Presentation is presented for the audience to enjoy. You may be very surprised to view many musicians who started their careers with Matinée Musicale and became world famous.

Alessio Bax, Solo Pianist

October 30, 2012

the Anderson Center Cincinnati

When the hurricane Sandy struck the East Coast our advertised duet artists Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung, scheduled for our 2012-2013 opening concert on October 30, had to be postponed until May 2, 2013. Ms. Chung was in New York when her plane was grounded. Mr. Bax, who had just completed concertizing in Washington D.C., was able to fly to Cincinnati and delighted us with a beautiful performance of Russian music including two pieces by Kreisler: Liebesleid and Liebesfroid transcribed for piano by Rachmaninoff; Mussorgsky's Hopak, arranged by Rachmaninoff; as well as Three Short Pieces by Rachmaninoff. Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition was in the second half of the program. This performance of Romantic music was offered by Matinée Musicale as a free bonus concert to our subscribers. Here is Mr. Bax on stage and taking his bow at the Anderson Center.
