Scott Ramsay’s 2011-12 season includes singing as Lenski in Eugene Onegin and as soloist in Opera in the Park, both conducted by John DeMain, with Madison Opera; Handel’s Messiah with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra; the Duke in Rigoletto and as soloist in Opera at the Cathedral with Sacramento Opera; Alfredo in La traviata with Lubbock Symphony Orchestra; Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress with Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra; Carmina Burana with Fresno Philharmonic; Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd, under the baton of Stephen Lord, with Opera Theatre of St. Louis; and his return to the Berkshire Choral Festival as soloist in Verdi’s Requiem, conducted by Murry Sidlin. Recent highlights include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte with Greensboro Opera; Ralph Rackstraw in H.M.S Pinafore with Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with American and Toledo symphony orchestras, also Santa Cruz Symphony; Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Opera New Jersey, title role in Gounod’s Faust with Eugene Opera, Fritz in Offenbach’s La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein with Opera Boston; Rodolfo in La bohème with Duluth Festival Opera; Ferrando in Così fan tutte with Arizona Opera; Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Green Mountain Opera Festival; Messiah with Nashville Symphony; Mozart’s Requiem with Music of the Baroque, also Pasadena Symphony; title role in Judas Maccabeus with Berkshire Choral Festival; Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore with Michigan Opera Theatre, also Opera Grand Rapids; Grier’s Songs from Spoon River at Ravinia Festival; and Bach’s Cantatas Nos. 41, 109 & 205 with Bach-Collegium Stuttgart. Auspicious operatic debuts from recent seasons include returns to Lyric Opera of Chicago as the Painter/Sailor in Berg’s Lulu and the leading role of Mark in Tippett’s The Midsummer Marriage, both conducted by Sir Andrew Davis; and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Dublin International Opera Festival. Important concert engagements include Verdi’s Requiem with Sir Andrew Davis and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, also a special performance in the Czech Republic; and Tippett’s A Child of Our Time with Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
